What we collect, and what we don't.

Information we collect

Information you provide directly. We may collect information you choose to provide, including your name, email address, newsletter preferences, sneaker or apparel size preferences, messages sent through contact forms, and information submitted through our deal-submission tools. A submission may include store name, product information, price, photographs, comments, and other content you choose to provide.

Newsletter information. If you subscribe to an Outlet Plug newsletter, we may collect your email address and optional preference information, such as shoe sizes, brands, categories, stores, or deal interests, so we can send relevant emails and improve newsletter content.

Analytics and device information. We use Google Analytics 4 (“GA4”) or similar analytics technology to understand how visitors use the site. Depending on our configuration and your browser or device settings, analytics data may include device and browser information, approximate location derived from IP address, pages viewed, referring pages, interactions, session information, and cookie or device identifiers. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, or other directly identifying information to Google Analytics.

Short links and sharing. We count opens of our short links, Copy link actions and uses of the share sheet. We record the time, link, browser information and referring domain, and classify automated previews separately. We use a daily rotating hash of the IP address for brief duplicate checks and approximate daily unique counts; this system stores no raw IP addresses and sets no cookies. Many messaging apps hide referral information, so we cannot always tell which app sent a visitor or where a copied link was pasted.

Cookies and similar technologies. Outlet Plug and service providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels, or similar technologies that are necessary for site functionality, security, preferences, analytics, newsletter operations, affiliate attribution, or other disclosed business purposes. Affiliate retailers or networks may use their own cookies or identifiers after you click an affiliate link, subject to their own privacy policies.

Community submissions. If you submit a deal or other content for publication, information you include in the submission may be reviewed by Outlet Plug staff and may become public if we publish it. Do not submit personal information that you do not want publicly displayed.

How we use information

We may use information to operate, maintain, secure, and improve OutletPlug.com; publish and review community-submitted deal information; send newsletters and other communications you requested; personalize newsletter or deal content based on preferences you provide; measure site and content performance; prevent fraud, abuse, or misuse; respond to inquiries; administer affiliate, advertising, or sponsorship relationships; comply with law; and protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Outlet Plug, our users, and others.

How we share information

We may share information with service providers that help us operate the site and our business, such as website hosting, analytics, email delivery, security, storage, form processing, and similar vendors. These providers may process information on our behalf for the services they provide.

If you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer or affiliate network may receive information necessary to attribute the referral or transaction, such as a referral identifier, cookie, device information, or transaction information. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, enforce our terms, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse or fraud, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction.

Advertising and tracking, as things stand today

As of the effective date of this policy, Outlet Plug does not intentionally use third-party behavioral advertising trackers solely to build cross-site advertising profiles, and does not sell personal information to third parties for money. Advertising on this site is sold directly and counted by us: a view is half an ad on screen for one second, a click goes through our own link, and we keep one number per ad per day. No third-party ad code runs on this site.

This section will be revised before Outlet Plug enables third-party behavioral advertising, programmatic advertising, cross-context behavioral advertising, retargeting or remarketing, Google Analytics advertising features used for ad personalization, or another materially different tracking practice.

Newsletter and marketing communications

You may unsubscribe from marketing or promotional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in the email. We may still send non-promotional transactional or service messages when appropriate, such as confirmations or responses to requests. We will not require an unreasonable fee, an account login, or unnecessary personal information merely to process a marketing-email opt-out.

Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including operating the site, maintaining records, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, and enforcing agreements. Retention periods may vary by data type and business need. Newsletter records may be retained as needed to honor unsubscribe requests and maintain suppression records, so a person who opted out is not accidentally re-added.

Your privacy choices and requests

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information that we maintain about you, subject to applicable law and legitimate exceptions. You may also ask questions about our privacy practices or withdraw from marketing emails.

To submit a privacy or deletion request, contact privacy@outletplug.com. We may need to verify your request before acting on it, and may retain limited information when necessary to comply with law, protect rights, prevent fraud, or document and honor an opt-out request.

Depending on where you live and whether applicable legal thresholds are met, you may have additional rights concerning your personal information. Outlet Plug will honor rights required by applicable law.

Children's privacy

OutletPlug.com is a general-audience website and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the site. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact privacy@outletplug.com so we can review and, when appropriate, delete it.

Information security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No website, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Third-party links and services

Outlet Plug links to retailers, brands, social networks, affiliate partners, and other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one. Review the privacy terms of any third party you choose to use.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or services. When required, we will provide additional notice of material changes. The “last updated” date identifies the current version.
